He stands at an average height and weight, but it's not so much those standards that matter. His build depicts his rigorous training with hand-to-hand combat and other extracurricular activities; giving him a strong physique equipped with well-toned muscles, defined under flawless, multicultural skin. His head is topped with dark-chocolate brown hair, usually cropped short. The young electrokinetic's facial features are outfitted with dark, expressive eyebrows, chocolate brown pools that go along in color with his hair, and a pearly white smile. This student is rarely without a frown, often working to cheer up others through silly faces or appearances, their enjoyment often at his own expense. He'll wear almost anything, from a grungy t-shirt and jeans, to a suit, to even a dress if it was needed for some kind of purpose. However, Darren usually prefers casual, male-oriented clothing, over a range of different color-combinations; a suit or a dress panning out to be a rare happenstance. While working in the Danger Room, he possesses a predominately silver costume, lined with electric blue stripes, complete with boots, fingerless gloves, and a mask that covers half of his face in an almost cowl-like fashion. Once and a while if he gets the chance to sneak out for a little vigilanteing, he puts this costume to good use. the personality likes • Food, dancing, skating, sports, drama (as in the school activity and all of its affiliates) dislikes • four plus strengths • two plus weaknesses • two plus dreams • one plus (any goals) fears • one plus overall personality • Darren, at first glance, seems like a total putz. He's mischievous; always getting into some kind of mild trouble if it's to get a laugh and make someone else's day. He's friendly to all; fun-loving and humorous, willing to bring a smile to anyone's face, newly arrived at the school or long-time student and friend. If asked, just about anyone that knows him might agree he's funny, yet generous and gentle. The young electrokinetic is almost always looking out for everyone but #1, and it's often what gets him into trouble. He's light-hearted and definitely charismatic, definitely possessing the potential of becoming a great leader if he were to actually have some kind of focus. He has a very high boiling point--- it takes a lot to get him angry, and when he is pushed to said point often burns hot but only for a short while. Unless one to really mess up, it probably won't be long before they're forgiven and back on good terms. Despite his popularity with the other students, Darren wields a powerful mind. He's intelligent and inventive, though he often uses his smarts to get out of sticky situations and for some great scheme that all the students at the school can enjoy. He's not so much a strategist, however; but leans closer towards being able to see what's going on in a situation quickly and assess what he feels is the best choice of action. But being at the school for over half of his lifetime has allowed him a bit of an advantage when it comes to experience. The young electrokinetic also happens to be a huge nerd. He enjoys comic books, manga and anime, and a range of different movies and shows and their due genres. He's also a lover of sports, and enjoys a multitude of physical activities, ranging from kicking a soccer ball around on the front grounds to intensive workouts in the danger room. Some of his greatest weaknesses also come from his strengths. His worries about other people extend to great lengths; he's often worrying about how they feel and about their well-being far before he even considers his own. He's loyal to a great fault, and despite having a heart of gold, if a fallout were to happen between himself and another he will often wonder if there was something he could have done better to prevent it, more often than not blaming himself. The young electrokinetic is often prone to over-thinking things, sometimes seeing underlying motives that might not be there. Taking everyone elses's problems, though he almost never shows it, can at times be stressful, and at times gets overwhelmed to a point where he has to take some time for himself. It doesn't help that he's rather independent to a fault, though glad to work with others would much rather take control of his own fate rather than being micromanaged or restrained by heavy rules, especially when it comes to his mutation. the abilities Special abilities • ELECTROKINESIS Darren has the power to manipulate, create, and shape electricity at will. Anything that runs an electrical current is prone to his control, ranging from simple things like appliances to more complicated things like electrical fields. This power gives him a range of abilities, which include:
Weaknesses • ELECTROKINESIS Generating, manipulating, and shaping electricity, especially that which he has generated himself, takes from Darren's own energy. The more he does, the more energy it takes, and he can exhaust himself if he goes for too long. Electicity-resistant things, such as rubber or wood, are impervious to any and all of Darren's electrical effects. Electrical Shield: Darren can only generate an electrical shield for himself. He cannot distribute it over others, and he can't extend it from his own body. Electrical Blasts: The further away someone is from his electrical blasts, the weaker the attack is. If someone is far away enough when he emits these, there would be no effect at all. The minimum distance someone must be for the blast to disperse is about twenty feet. Synapse Manipulation: Again, skin-on-skin contact must be there, or he can't affect the other at all. And once he is no longer touching the other person, whatever he was doing is now void. Up until he turned four, his life had been relatively normal. He had supportive, loving parents, and was even beginning to hear the promise of getting a younger sibling from both his father and his mother. However, as wrong-time, wrong-place circumstances would warrant, after going for a drive at a whim, the Palmer family was blindsided by a drunk driver. The stress of his injuries and the possibility of losing his mother triggered Darren's powers at a significantly premature age, and he managed to save his mother's life, unintentional and accidental as it was, by running a current of electricity through his body powerful enough to kickstart her heart. Though this deed was quickly forgotten. The Palmers were terrified of what their son had become. They didn't think his powers were gifts; instead, quite the opposite. Plans of having another child were cut off entirely, and he was forbidden from using them, consciously or otherwise. Still, Darren practiced in secret; he took delight in how he was able to turn electrical objects on and off at whim. He tried to be happy and was sociable with other kids when he could get away with it, but over time, that was becoming less and less possible. His parents talked about him to other parents behind his back, not telling them why their children had to stay away but simply stating that it was the best for everyone. By the time Darren was seven years old, he was so confused, angry, and hurt that he accidentally fried the neighbor's cat. The said neighbor had caught the young Palmer in the act, and as they seized him to drag him angrily back home, she suffered the same fate as her cat. Mortified, terrified, and at an all new level of intolerant of Darren's presence, they were happy to shove him off when they were approached by an unknown individual offering that he go to a school that would be more fitting for a person with his abilities. For a few years, Darren was quiet and withdrawn, he was hardly focusing on anything but teamwork and a singular goal: complete control over what he could currently do with his powers. When he had achieved this, he slowly began to crawl out of his shell, becoming more and more popular with the rest of the crowd and his age group, until he blossomed into the social butterfly he is today.
