Kaie and Logan go fishing, and wind up having a friendly competition.

Kaie: -she knocked on Logan's door lightly, the sun wasn't up yet and she didn't want to wake anyone else up. She was bright eyes and bushy tailed.- Loooogan~ -she whispered through the door- come ooon
-----
Logan: -he was running a little behind. He gathered up his keys and jacket and turned towards the door just as she called his name. He opened it and greeted her- Mornin'. Ready to go?
-----
Kaie: -she beamed up at him and nodded, patting the lunch bag she had slung over her shoulder again.- Aye -she chirped eagerly, already starting towards the garage.-
Logan: - smiled a little after her and followed, at first behind then in line with her when they had the room- If I'da thought you'd give me that much trouble I wouldn't've bothered.
Kaie: -she snorted, amused and looked up at him once he moved in line with her.- Trouble?! Since when have ah ever been anything but a wee delight. -she asked, pretending to be surprised and affronted though her eyes glittered cheerfully.-
Logan: How 'bout all the time? -he teased, keeping his voice serious, but he still had a small smile and his gaze was a warm brown. He opened the garage door and stood aside to hold it for her-

-----
Kaie: -she laughed at that as she went through the door he held open, turning back to answer as she walked- That's just another way o sayin ah'm entertainin. -she retorted as if it was a compliment, before turning around smoothly and walking straight to the truck, still giggling a little.-
Logan: One way of puttin' it, I guess. -he answered, throwing the bag in the back and putting the tailgate up before he slid into the front seat, and started it up-
-----
Kaie: -she slid into the front seat as he put his stuff in back, though she kept their lunch at her feet this time. She smiled as he got in and started it up...- dae yea like drivin? -she asked, a random question if you weren't able to read her mind to see how it made sense to her.-
Logan: I didn't use to. -he answered- Now I do--- seat belt, Red--- most of the time.

Kaie:- she buckled up, but not before sticking out her tongue at him, even if he was right.- Es et easier then ridin?
Logan: No, I think they're about the same. I like riding more. -he pulled out of the garage and had them on their path down the drive to head up to the lake-
Kaie: ah. -she said nodding and looking out the window as they drove.- guess ah'll stick with the bike then. -she said mostly to herself. As long as she could drive a vehicle she was good. - think yer gonna catch more thes time? - she asked after a moment, a challenge laced into her cheer as she turned from the outside to grin at him.-
Kaie: call et what yea want, but ah still caught quite a few more then yea ded-she said, giggling a little more each time he gave her that look. She couldn't beat him in the danger room yet, but she could beat him fishing... Probably.-
Logan: Well, Red, you used it all up last time; and we're not playing in the guppy pool today. -he promised, turning his gaze fully back to the road with about as close to a smirk as he could manage-
Kaie: Mae fish werenay guppies! -she exclaimed, a little bit of a whine in her tone to show she was clearly insulted that he thought so little of her catch, though her grin said it was all acting.- mine tasted better anyways. -she added sullenly.-
Logan: All right, all right. -he said in response to her exclamation- They weren't guppies. And they did taste pretty good after they were cooked up.
Kaie: aye. They ded. -she agreed, trying to hold on to her pout a little while longer, but unable to now that he had placated her wounded pride.- what are we goin after thes time? -she asked, unruly smile returning.-
Logan: Hopefully bass again; less bluegill . . . If we get more of 'em this time, though, it's what we get. They should be larger this time, though, if we got us any luck.
Kaie: are they harder to catch?
Logan: -shrugs- I just like 'em better . . . Always thought bluegill were stupid even for fish, though
Kaie: she chucked and nodded.- as long as ah catch more then yea, ets okay with mae ef the count es less.
Logan: Oh, yeah? And if I get more n' you, then what?
Kaie:..... hmmm -she thought about that one for a moment- Then ah will help yea clean em. -she offered, making a face at the thought.... poor fishies. - What dae ah get ef ah win? -she asked him, clearly enjoying this even more now that stuff was on the line.-
Logan: -Hmmphed at her offer; and paused for a moment to think on what he'd give her . . . it was a lot more difficult than he'd thought . . . - Um . . . a day where . . . we can do almost anything ya want to.
Kaie: oooo~ almost anything? -she asked, eyebrows raised and a definitely up-to-no-good expression. They could do lots of things....- yea got a deal Logan. -she accepted before he could back out.- we can shake on et when we get there though.-
Logan: -paused, thinking for a moment at the way she answered and how the last time cleaning the fish had gone that he might have over-bet. There were lots of things she could do in a whole day . . . But it was too late to think this over.- Fine. -The bet was made- But that look, that look right there--- you can't ever tell me you're a wee delight.
Kaie: Can tae -she said with a laugh- Yea love mae cause ah keep yea on yer toes. . .Ah bet yea'd bae bored with a nice, relaxin, peaceful day all tae yerself. -she teased, knowing he would have enjoyed that quite a bit. But she appreciated it when he let her come along. It felt special and while she chattered in the car, she wouldn't as much in the boat. Especially since she was now praying to all the luck and fishing related gods she could think of. She had to win the bet-
Logan: -hmphed again. No, she was like her mother in that regard . . . Mischievous as the craftiest ruler of hell and yet still charming enough that he couldn't say 'no' to either of 'em, it seemed. Not when it wasn't really critical. For a moment, he thought about feeling bad for Darren, but that was immediately shot down. Kid was probably twisted in the same sense he'd been for Airmid-
Kaie: -she giggled and fell into a comfortable, though smiley silence. Praying and bargaining was to be done now.... He was a seasoned fisherman.... and she felt he might have been right about using up all of her luck last time. But was it cheating to ask for the help of deities who may or may not be there? maybe... What would she even do with a whole day... Would movies be out of the question? OH! or the museum!!-
Logan: -was open to chat with his daughter for the rest of the drive if she wished it so; though for the most part didn't have any topics to offer. Eventually, he got them to the lake, and stopped the truck, grumbling "bail" as he opened the door and moved around to grab the bag of poles and other things they would need to begin their fishing trip that didn't include the water, the boat, and the fish themselves-
Kaie: -she idly made plans for the day Logan would owe her for the duration of the trip. The museum was a must... Maybe a park so he could recover from people crowds... Maybe a danger room session where she got to pick the setting and goal.... Oooo~ or icecream!
By the time they reached the lake she knew exactly what they were going to do when she won. The lass bailed out and slung their lunch bag over her shoulder before she moved back to help carry something else down to the boat. -
Logan: -the look on her face made him . . . mildly worried. He'd over-bet. He just knew it. Dammit. Meh. It wouldn't ruin the good mood, though. It was his daughter; and he had never once regretted a day with her. He got them to the boat at the end of the dock and tossed in the bag, before getting in himself and reaching out for her to pass her bag and then to help her on if she needed it . . . The water was kind of choppy today . . . Might prove to be a bit of a challenge if things didn't die down . . . -
Kaie:- she trot after her father eagerly, and waited for him to get situated and offer his hand for her bag. The lass passed it to him and then accepted his help over onto the craft as well and took her seat next to him. These conditions did not bode well for her.... Last time it had been so nice... Why couldn't it be like last time? She really didn't want to clean the poor fishies....-
Logan: Neither of us'll catch anything if this keeps up. -he grumbled. It was still early morning, though. With any luck it'd die down in an hour or so. With a lot of luck, it'd be done before a half hour. He doubted, it, though.- Could ya get the ropes on the left side, Red? -As he spoke, he was already untying the tethers on the left, first the back, then the front-
Kaie:-she nodded and moved to do as she was asked, fingers moving easily to untie the tethers, front then back. -ready -she chirped, taking her seat again if he had nothing else for her to do. what happened if they didn't catch anything? Rematch? Yeah she could go for a rematch if her father was right in his prediction....-
Logan: Thanks. -he started the boat up then took his seat, getting them around to begin heading out from the shore. Once he had them away from the dock, he kicked it into high gear and sent them off-
Kaie:-once they really got going she couldn't help the beaming smile or outright laughter as the zipped across the water. The fishing was great but when they went really fast like this, definitely her favorite part.-
Logan: -smiled at her enthusiasm. He liked going quick, too. He made a note to maybe after they were done to just screw around--- there wasn't anyone to be in their way out here, after all . . . Once he thought they were in a good spot, he slowed them down and stopped the boat, before he broke out the poles and worm tubs-
Kaie:-her laughter died to giggles, then chuckles as they slowed down, and a large smile when they stopped. She made herself small so her dad could move freely and specifically took her pole from last time, because it was lucky. She leaned it in the crook of her arm and held out her hand to him, an impish smile on her face- Mae the best fisher person win, aye?
Logan: -took up his favorite pole and looked back to her as she extended her hand. He took it and shook it once- Yep. -he then went about to hooking his worm, and when he was finished turned to look at her- Need me to hook yours, or you think you're good?
Kaie: yer gonna jinx et ef yea dae et -she said with a laugh and shaking her head. She picked through the tub, found a particularly fat worm, and made a face as she picked it up.- ah need yea tar wiggle lots and dae yer very best tar get all the fishies tae mae side okay? -she asked if her worm as she worked to spear him on the hook while continuing her pep talk. Only when she was satisfied with the way the metal was covered did she hold it out for Logan's approval.-
Logan: -snorted and turned to cast out his line, looking back every once in a while to ensure that she wasn't having too much trouble; and when she spoke blew a short laugh out his nose and nodded as she held it out- Good job.
Kaie: laugh all yea want, but now he's motivated.- she said loftily, though she smiled as she turned and cast out in the opposite direction he had. heeeere fishie fishie fishieeee~ -
Logan: Uh huh. -he said back, before turning to pay more attention to his line. The water was choppy . . . Hard to see if it was bobbing at all . . . Shit. For the sake of the day, he hoped it died down . . . -
Kaie:-she watched her bobber like a hawk... Several times it looked like she had a bite, but it didn't quite feel like it... And when it did feel like it, it didn't look like it.... This was going to be harder then she thought.-
Logan: -Was . . . working . . . on being patient today. It was kinda hard, though, when what you were waiting for was either wrong or you missed your chance. He had to reel in and replace a worm once before there was the slightest bit of change toward calmer waters-
Kaie: -she giggled when Logan pulled up his limp worm and hers was still wriggling... Granted it looked water logged, but her's still lasted longer.- see ah told yea -she said cheerfully, opting to cast back out with the same one as the water got calmer. Come on little buddy...-
Logan: Yeah; you just got one that was stubbornly suicidal in only one way. -he shot back, taking a new worm and hooking it on before casting it out again . . . -
Kaie: he's lucky. Ah can tell... Happy tar dae his duty tae the great worm gods... -she answered back, not turning as she heard him cast out. Was that a bite?. . . Damnit... Nope.-
Logan: -More waiting . . . And the last spike of choppy seemed to last forever . . . Though that might've been just because they were waiting . . . But around an hour or so after they'd set off . . . it'd finally calmed down . . . It'd be harder for their catches to hide now . . . They'd know for the most part when there was a legitimate bite-
Logan: Think it'll work this time? -he teased her, though he didn't look back. He had nibbles.-
Kaie: oh yea o little faith... Ah hope yea like museums~ -she answered back, staring at her nibble-less bobber-
Logan: - . . . Still nibbling . . . They didn't want to bite yet . . . He reeled in just a little, shifting his weight down a little more and putting the tip of his pole down in preparation. Bite, damn you. -
Kaie: -where were all the fish? She started to reel in a little, first fast then really really slow after the initial jerk. Her reward was a tiny noncommittal dip of the bobber-
Logan: -The small teasing had been just enough, it seemed. One bite, and Logan was ready with a quick jerk back and a fast reel, only to pause to let some slack in, make sure it was still on . . . Yep. Reeling again. And with a flopping plethora of wriggling splashes he pulled up the first fish-
Kaie: -she groaned in disappointment as her dad got the first one, and reached down to open the lid to the live well for him- traitor.- she hissed to the fish before chuckling. All in good fun, she could totally catch two to his one-
Logan: -The fish was a good size, too. Worth the wait. He unhooked it and tossed it in before reaching for another worm- That's one, -he said as she chuckled, picking through the "dirt" and looking up at his daughter once before down again to pick what he wanted.-
Kaie: ah'm nay worried... - she said as she wearily watched her again abandoned bobber.... It was just one...-
Logan: No. -It was almost a question. Not quite. Almost, though. He was still teasing. He turned his gaze back to the water again and cast a little more to the left, before sitting once more and waiting-
Kaie: nay at all -she retorted, deciding to reel back in to give her worm a lecture... Only to find that her worm had been stolen.... Dang it!.... She frowned and really concentrated as she got another worm, and stuck it on the hook.- if yea let Mae down worm, ah'm lettin yea drown.- she threatened since clearly team spirit wasn't working. She choose a different spot and cast out, ready to wait for her fish.-
Logan: -refrained from teasing his daughter further this time, and concentrated on his own task. It didn't seem like they were biting this way, though. There weren't really even nibbles, just a pensive rocking of the waves. He'd chosen a bad spot.-
Kaie:-held her breath as she got a nibble... And prepared to jerk up and set the hook. . .
The bobber went down and she jerked her pole up hard and started to reel in, only this one felt a lot bigger then the others and put up enough fight that she couldn't reel it in all the way right away so she sort of toyed with it, slowly dancing it to the boat until it was close enough to the surface she could see it.- uh... Ets big.... Ah dan't think the pole will support him.... -she said looking to Logan for help. This was no wee perch...-
Logan: -set his pole down and turned around, moving to stand beside her. He reached and took ahold of the line and tugged it a bit, looking down at the fish. No, not with her pole, it wouldn't. He 'hmm'd and took the line and yanked it up, pulling her large fish up out of the water and over the boat- The well.
Kaie: -she opened the lid and crouched away from the flopping fish. Haha! Hers was bigger.- ef et eats yers ah think et gets added tae Mae count. -she teased as she left it up to him to get her catch off the hook.-
-----
Logan: No, I think they're about the same. I like riding more. -he pulled out of the garage and had them on their path down the drive to head up to the lake-
-----
Kaie: ah. -she said nodding and looking out the window as they drove.- guess ah'll stick with the bike then. -she said mostly to herself. As long as she could drive a vehicle she was good. - think yer gonna catch more thes time? - she asked after a moment, a challenge laced into her cheer as she turned from the outside to grin at him.-
-----
Logan: -looked at her a few times almost incredulously- Ain't my fault your beginners' luck was stealin' 'em all.
-----
Kaie: call et what yea want, but ah still caught quite a few more then yea ded-she said, giggling a little more each time he gave her that look. She couldn't beat him in the danger room yet, but she could beat him fishing... Probably.-

Yer friend dednay dae sah hot fer us last time sah ets up tae yea. -she gave another rousing worm speech, got the wiggling morsel in place and cast back out. This one was totally lucky.-

This was no wee perch...-
-----
Logan: -set his pole down and turned around, moving to stand beside her. He reached and took ahold of the line and tugged it a bit, looking down at the fish. No, not with her pole, it wouldn't. He 'hmm'd and took the line and yanked it up, pulling her large fish up out of the water and over the boat- The well.
-----
Kaie: -she opened the lid and crouched away from the flopping fish. Haha! Hers was bigger.- ef et eats yers ah think et gets added tae Mae count. -she teased as she left it up to him to get her catch off the hook.-
