Kaielynn was beyond frustrated, a scowl firmly in place as she waited for the scenario to reboot. 'Damn e'ery last wan o em. This time, this time, We will beat et fer sure.' She laced her hands through the bristly fur of Talorc's hackles and gave the beast a pat. She knew he was as tired as she was, but a loss wouldn't sit well with him either so they kept going. The pict was perched on top of the short faced bear's back like some sort of fantasy warrior, though instead of skimpy useless armor she wore her training uniform. She'd run this course about five times today already and exposed skin showed the evidence of how many times she had failed the simulation. Her pale skin did little to hide the blooming bruises and raw scrapes, but they still stung. How did other people just walk away from being thrown into buildings and crap? It was super human... though to be fair, she was kinda super human too, in her own way. Guess she would just have to suck it up.
Kaie wasn't new to Danger Rooms like this one, the place where she had grown up had trained her in one much like it, so she had thought she could start past beginner.... She was wrong, but she refused to quit, so again, for the sixth time. She let the scenario play. It was designed to help her learn to be ready for decisive actions, and being able to adapt her plans. The goal in and of itself was easy. Get from Point A to Point B and secure it, the problems where everything in between and there was no pattern to it.
A dense northern forest materialized around her this time, sometime in the middle of summer. She could smell men and guns somewhere thanks to her mind split with Talorc, but it wasn't enough information for her to want to charge ahead. She had tried that the first time thinking seeing the worlds largest bear and a crazy Scottish would scare the shit out of most everyone. If it had the simulations didn't show it and she had been shot, though that time she admitted she had been pretty stupid. This time she would be very cautious. She slipped her hand inside the pouch on her belt, fingers brushing over the well known pages of the sketchbook within. When she found the one she wanted she put her energy into it. Aidian, her archeopteryx materialized on her shoulder with a chirp and she adjusted to the loss of energy, as well as another part of the mind split. With another peep the dinosaur took off and glided off into the forest, moving in a spiral....
Moving based on the archeopteryx's information, they nearly made it half way before a trap was sprung. They found themselves in an ambush, They tried to fight their way out but were beaten back, they got cornered and with the backlash from several grazing bullet wounds Talorc had taken Kaie was in a bad place when she finally lost. "God damn et all!" She cursed furiously once they were back in an empty danger room..... She didn't understand how they kept missing things like that. They had just popped out of the bushes... But her animals had not been able to see or smell them. It was definitely cheating! The thought never crossed her mind that she might have made a mistake and set it to unwinable on accident. Seventh try, here they come.
