The Defination of Tenacious

Kaielynn blinked at the man, surprise clear as she started a bit. 'when the hell ded somewan else get en tae the sim?' she wondered, she had been alone up to this point. Or at least the Scott thought she had been alone. Talorc's hackles still rose at the sight of him, weary of the man due to Kaie's emotional state on the subject. Aidan did a once over, flying just above the man's head and then landed on Kaie's shoulder, primitive feathers fluffing up as well.

"Ah was thinken about et... till ah figured oot just what et es that ah keep messin up" She replied, not budging from her place on her bear. "Well yea know, besides the finden the ambush bae walken entae et bets, ah figured that was wrong." She added, her tone indicating she was being the arse of that joke even though she wasn't really smiling. It was frustrating to loose. again. Talorc growled his agreement to her thoughts and she gave him a quick pat, she knew he hated to loose too, let alone loosing this many times.

She shook her head and sighed, "Ah'm sorreh, did yea want the room tae yerself?" she asked trying to be polite. As the newest meat on campus she was bottom of the totem pole as far as she was concerned. Not to mention she could always come back later to keep trying. She was not giving up, and would keep coming back when she had free time till she figured out what she was doing wrong."Oh, an ah'm Kaielynn, bae the way. Kaielynn MacLeod." she introduced herself "an this ed Talorc, and Aidan." she added as well, gesturing to the bear and archeopteryx in turn. Her mother had raised her with manners, and introductions were required during an initial meeting.

Logan, good to know. She committed the name and face in her memory for future use. He was a pretty distinctive looking guy, she didn't want to forget his name since she doubted he liked to repeatedly introduce himself. When he circled Talorc to get on their side it made her have to try and not smile, least it seemed like she was laughing at him, as she watched him gauge the size. It was always amusing for her to watch other people meet her pets for the first time, especially when they didn't know what she did. For her this was considered basic knowledge, heck she had been studying biology since she could read, and had grown up doing intensive research on extinct mega fauna thanks to her.... interesting, childhood. As far as she was concerned everyone should know the scientific names of all of her creatures. But most people had no idea what the common names were, let alone the scientific or even that they were things that had actually once walked the planet. What they did know is they were big, and weird and often scary, and that was amusing.

Carefully she listened to his advice, replaying the events and applying his words to her mental video. Damn it, she had been so sure they had been approaching from the right way. That really was a stupid and embarrassing mistake, though it would explain how she kept missing them. How she was supposed to figure out where they were without smell or sight was still a problem.Heck she even had a scout out and they had still been totally hidden. Maybe she should do some research into bats and other echolocating animals after this. It would certainly be useful on Aidian. Not that it helped her now, but she pinned the idea to her to do list. Not like she had enough to do already what with homework, class projects, training and trying to meet the other students and the staff.

As she tried to figure it out, she almost missed his offer and it took her a minute to understand what he had said. She blinked at him and her contemplative expression was replaced with a grateful smile. "That would bae lovely!" She replied enthusiastically. "Er- As long as yea dannay mind et tae much." She added, throwing her leg over Talorc's back so she could slide off like she was dismounting a horse. "Ah still have a fair bet o juice left ef yea would rather work with a pack then a pair as well." She offered. They had just met after all, so she wasn't sure if he felt better fighting with more numbers behind him or less. She was sitting pretty at just a couple pounds over a ton and a half, so she definitely had options to switch it up if he wanted before the Sim started up again.

She watched him go over to the controls and set them to his liking. A game of Hide and Seek huh? somehow she doubted this would be like when she was little.... Of course, she and the other... she didn't know what to call em really, kids maybe, had only had a glorified cell block to play together in so there hadn't been many places to hide. Tag had been much more popular, not that she wanted to play that with a guy who could be a really buff speedster or something. Though on second thought that seemed unlikely, since the speedster she knew had been a string bean. He looked kinda like a humanized bear? maybe he was super strong? Dang it.... He probably figured out she was a summoner and she had no idea what he did. Next time she would keep her mouth shut.

In what seemed like a brilliant tactical maneuver Kaie decided to do the switch out after they already got started.He knew what Tarloc looked like and would be expecting to see their silhouette. If she changed to the raptors or hyenas, she would be pressed with the mind split, but if they could pull it off. Yeah that would totally work. When he asked if she was ready, the lass responded with a quick nod. Talorc bowed so she could climb back up with ease. Once she was situated the Simulation rebooted. The forest came back, and she tried to pay more attention to the direction of wind, watching the trees and Talorcs fur to figure it out. Aidian left her shoulder once the trees closest to them became solid. He scampered up into the branches and disappeared from sight. Kaielynn grinned at Logan.

"Dae yea want tae bae the hider or the seeker?" She asked, waiting to see which one he would like. Since he was doing the mentoring she figured it was only right to let him pick. Though either way the pict was looking forward to this, and her putting her plan in action. She'd never tried something like this before

Kaielynn nodded when he chose to be the hider. She had figured that would be the one he would take, though she wasn't sure she liked that smile much. It was deffinelty a I'm-up-to-no-good grin. She shivered thanks to the snow, why couldnt he have left it in the summer? With a sigh she unbuckled her shoulder protector, slid her coat onto her shoulders and refastened the pauldron. There that would do for a while. As he explained his rules she buttoned said coat, flicking her collar up to help guard against the cold. She nodded when he was done with his rules.

"Ah have wan o mae own tae add. Yea cannay kill mae beasts. Maim an other wise wound fine, but dannay kill." She chirped quickly. She didn't know how this danger room worked yet, but the one they had at the facilities that she grew up in... The backlash still worked there, and just thinking about that pain made her go a little pale. After the mental shiver passed though she looked at him, a bit nervously but also excited to try and "hunt" a real person. He told her to wait five minutes and again the pict nodded again. She didnt know how long he was giving her before she became his target, but she figured it wouldn't be very long.

Logan ran off and she started her countdown. She had Talorc and Aidan take in the scents around them while they paced. After the worlds longest five minutes the bear moved forward at a lumbering pace. They would follow the obvious trail till it went away on the ground. In the trees the Archeopteryx followed along, gliding in ever larger circles around them. When there were short cuts between the paths they, found them faster thanks to the feathered reptile.Aidian was so benificial that once Logan switched from obvious to his actual game, she and Talorc would have missed where the trail went. All of the time they might have gained was lost when he went into the water. They went up and down both sides of the stream for quite a while before they were able to find his tracks again. 'Damn et. Ah should have just made the switch.' she thought to herself as they got moving on the right path again.

By now she was sure they were also being hunted... It felt like it had been forever already. She crouched down as low as she could into Talorc's pelt, the shaggy fur helping not only to keep her warm, but also hide the seam where he ended and she began. Now she was weary, but still they followed the trail. Only occasionally loosing it now that they had a pretty good system. Though it sometimes looked like he might have switched sided or gotten out of the water. Each false, or imagined trail just cost them precious time. all three were on edge, waiting for him to pounce or to do the pouncing depending on their luck.

Kaielynn came to the hollowed dip after a while. If this had been the computer doing the enemies again, she would have bet the ambush lay in wait down there. But Logan probably knew she would think that way since she had just been ambushed in a dip similar to this one, which of course made this perfect spot way to obvious. So naturally he wouldn't have picked it. With a snort from Talorc they moved on, continuing their trek downwind.

Fifteen minutes passed with out any sign of her adversary. Now she had changed tactics though, she knew she was being hunted and wasn't looking to find him, she had Aidan doing that. Currently she was busy setting her own trail. The pict and her mount were following an animal trail they hadn't expected, the short faced bear carefully stepping so his paws fell in the same place as the grizzly who had walked there before. The scent and paw prints of the simulation's bear went all the way to a cave, and with the utmost caution they went inside.

Silently Kaie dismounted and scuffed around, making sure to leave her scent but also trying to pick up the scent of the grizzly. Talorc rubbed scent glands all over the front chamber of the cave, neither of them dared the second one where they could hear the Bear slowly start to wake up. Making sure the trail was nice and strong, Kaie unsummoned her bear, slipping out of a small fissure that led her to the far side of the rocky hill the cave had been in, out of sight of the mouth of the cave. She went on foot, walking a direction that seemed thus far untouched. She would have to time things right for this to work.

While she and Talorc set the trap, Adian was searching up and down the trees where the trail had run cold. Being a glider ment he had to stay in the branches of the trees, moving like a weird shadow. The cover of the pine needles helping to hide him, and all the sap definitely covered his smell, though Kaielynn was going to get a good bite for making his feathers all sticky. It took him a while, but he finally managed to find traces of their opponent and followed them to the source, staying far enough behind and down wind of Logan that he wouldn't be noticed but Kaie could watch from her location.

And watch she did, after finding a thick brambly bit of undergrowth she could just worm herself in to. She would wait to resummon till after she found out if the bear worked or not.

Adian watched Logan from his perch in the last tree of the forest line, his claws dug in to the sticky bark to hold himself still. His beady little black eyes following the older mutant's movements as he followed the trail Kaie and Talorc had left... right into the cave. The summoner watched through her creature's senses as she kept moving away from the trap, back to the safety of the trees. She cringed at the terrible roaring that came from the cave before suddenly going quiet, hearing everything through Adian. The lass waited for the sim to phase out, like it should when one of them got taken down since it was set to a competative mode. And Logan had just fought a bear, 'sooooo any time now....' the pict had not expected it to work that well, and was fairly pleased at her success. Only, not long after there was Logan. Walking back out without a scratch on him, she almost couldn't believe Adian's eyes, but sure enough that was his scent on the wind. Sure explained why the sim hadn't ended....

How the hell was she supposed to win if a freaking giant grizzly bear didn't put a scratch on him?!His spiffy uniform sure, but not him! What, was he made of freaking metal or something?! She was more then a little afraid once he found her trail again, and had Aidian follow him much the same as before. She was going to need all the advanced warning she could get with this guy. With shaking hands the pict lass flipped through her book of drawings. Evaluating her creatures against an apparently unscratchable enemy. She had wanted to bring out the raptors and attack him on three sides but they did physical damage, and that was much to her dismay, useless. Somehow she doubted the fear factor would factor for much here either, which was half of her basic tactics. She could fly away, but in an arena this small Alistar wouldn't be able to do much more then show him exactly where she was.Giant birds did tend to act as red flags saying "here I am" on clear days like this. 'Shit shit shit.... no calm down.' she chided herself as her fear get stronger. You couldn't just sic a bear on someone and not expect them to be pissed, though to be honest you were supposed to be able to expect the bear to beat said person. Man she wished that trap would have worked.

Ok, Binky was obviously out. While the Tyrannosaurus would have been comforting, she was also far to heavy since she already had Talorc out today and she didnt feel like dying for a game of hide and seek. Though someday she would have to see if a Trex would be able to slow Logan down, provided she ever got the chance. That pretty much left her the Parasaurolophus brothers, Drest and Baird. Sure hadrosaurids were just walking buffets in their time, but this kind in particular had a secret weapon. They were able to hit a highly disorienting pitch in most creatures, that could make a person physically ill if exposed for too long. And thankfully with both of them it wouldn't take long at all on a normal person. Ugh, she hated using them on the fly like this. She had not been planning on it thus had foolishly decided to not bring any sort of protection which ment she would be going down too. It was a very risky gamble, but it was the only one she could take with any hope of success so she took it anyways.

With all the dilly dallying she had done trying to make the correct choice, Logan was closing in and quickly. 'Now or never yea idjet.' She commanded herself,her fingers going to the pages and summoning them with a little concentration. She felt the familiar whoosh of energy, her mind splitting to accommodate the two new summons. Closing her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose, to try and dispense the slight head ache that always came with summoning multiples at once. The brothers snorted and stomped, low rumbles sounding like a large boat or metal grinding, coming from their swinging agitated heads as they immediately picked up on the artist's nervous mood.

She knew it was to late to try and run so she had the brothers circle her, and lay down ring snout to tail. The three of them waited in the clearing, watching all sides, their breath whisping out into the cold. It almost looked like they were resting in the snow, though her heart was racing like a rabbit's. 'come on, come on.... lets get thes done...'. the waiting made it worse.
