Kenji would be considered short to Americans--- Only coming in to stand at about five feet, three inches tall, however, it isn't his height that happens to be his most defining feature. He has smooth, soft and gentle skin, the color of cocoa. His body is lined with lean and lithe muscles, not chiseled but defined enough to be noticeable. Thick, short, black hair covers the top of his head, cut to look kind of scruffy, but he likes it that way. The silent empath's facial features are strong, with a square jaw and a round chin; thick, expressive eyebrows; almond-shaped, dark eyes that often help express what he's trying to say or what he's feeling; and ears that are a little larger than normal. Because he was born without the vocal folds in his larynx that would have given him a voice, he often has to use these features and his body to great extensions in order to express the mood of his words that don't have the advantage of possessing a tone. More often than not, he has to over-exaggerate his expressions in order for his point to get across.


His choice of dress spans over a number of different styles, though he mostly likes casual dress. In his mind, t-shirts are bed shirts, and is far more comfortable in button-ups with cardigans or jackets. He likes skinny jeans, dress pants, but only likes dark, black, or white denim, not so much blue. He very much prefers casual class and has no problem of expressing his tastes in clothing every single day

Kenji has multiple layers about him: what people see at first glance, and what comes out over time. Just meeting him, the silent empath is seemingly very lazy; he doesn't move quickly and has a habit of being late when such deadlines aren't urgent or related to his profession. He's unwilling to make connections with new people, though to all strangers he is friendly and respectful, unless given reasons to be uncivil, and prefers to be the person that would hang about the corners of a gathering rather tan being open and in the middle. Part of this is because he's mute, though most of it is an extreme dislike for any kind of annoying conflict. He likes to do things that are adverse to the norm, and is blunt and abrasive when it comes to his opinions on others and most situations.

If someone were to take the time to "talk" and get to know him, they'd begin to get past his first mask, and discover many of his actual qualities. He's dexterous; having to be good with his hands to communicate, though he uses them for much more than just making signs. A professional photographer, he's highly skilled when it comes to working numerous different kinds of cameras, from cell phone to more elite technologies, though he prefers to use the professional camera he usually carries with him. However, one of his strongest attributes happens to be his smarts. Despite his inability to speak verbally, through his actions on the field and even in everyday life, it's obvious his intelligence is above average. He's analytical; assessing every motive before going through with an action, though over time he's made it to where only if one was watching closely would they notice. He's clever and decisive, and in a pinch can weasel his way out of most unpleasant situations using his gathered experience to his greatest advantage. When it comes to his family, he's cheerful and lighthearted, and most certainly a showoff and very prideful when it comes to his skills in the culinary arts. His family and friends alike aren't to be abandoned; he has an indefatigable will when it comes to protecting and watching over those he cares about, even when what he's facing might be a little too much for him to handle, and is devoted and gentle to all of said members, unless civility isn't what they need.

Yet even all of these good qualities happen to bury a side he tries to hide, even from himself. He secretly struggles with depression, and even mild PTSD, after watching his mother and fathers' murder. Some days are a lot harder to get out of bed and be motivated to do much of anything than others. He's haunted by nightmares and often goes with little to no sleep, especially when he sleeps alone. While he tries to keep it under control, if prodded he can show off his inherited short temper, and often when he's angry burns for a long time and more often than not has a habit of holding a grudge. His inability to express things verbally can often leave him bottling up lots of his feelings, and over time without having any kind of an outlet, he can be prone to bursting. Though there are only a few choice select that know about these bottom few layers and often tries to hide it from even these people.

EMPATHY



Kenji has the ability to manipulate other people's emotional state. Anyone within about a twenty-foot radius of his position is prone to his abilities. In order to make them feel the desired emotion, he must first be experiencing it himself, and often has to focus in order to get the desired result. He can pick and choose those he manipulates and those he doesn't, if given the chance to really concentrate. Because of how his power works, he can sometimes unintentionally change the state of someone else's mood because his own is strong enough to "bleed" over. It often leaves him as being very readable, and his own emotions are very rarely kept under wraps.


MAGIC



Kenji, thanks to Brave, is able to perform small feats of magic. The spells he knows are minimal, and can do minimal damage. He still has to say the spell, and with a lack of voice means he has to sign it out, before he can perform it. And each spell takes energy, and being untrained and very much a beginner, for him it saps up a large amount of energy, even more so since he has little control. Most of the time he prefers just to use it while practicing with Brave, and otherwise doesn't want to bother.

EMPATHY



Anyone outside of a twenty-foot radius is out of Kenji's range. He wouldn't be able to manipulate them at all.

Kenji needs to focus and feel the emotion he wants someone else to feel in order to get the desired result. If he has no way of feeling at the current time the emotion he desires, then he can't get the result he wants.


MUTE


Kenji is unable to make any kind of verbal noise. Being unable to speak often puts up barriers between himself and others, though it's hardly his desire, and often times bottles up feelings and thoughts, especially when he has no one else to "talk" to.


MAGIC


Kenji is a beginner when it comes to magic. He can only do simple spells that do minimal damage, and often has trouble remembering the spell he has to perform. With no voice, he has to sign out the spell before he can use it. Another problem he still has is that to use a spell, he has to devote a lot of energy, and even one spell with his lack of control can be dangerous. Most of the time in his current state, it's better to try it in practice than to actually use it as any kind of an actual offense.


Skills •



Kenji is fluent in multiple forms of sign language, and can read, write, and understand Japanese, English, and multiple forms of Chinese, and is trying to learn Spanish.

The silent empath prides himself on his culinary skills, and can whip up anything if he has a recipe, but prefers to stick with the dishes he's been making most of his life.

Kenji took a martial arts class from a very young age to his graduation, and is skilled enough, but would much rather never have to use it.
